Contentment is something I am constantly working on.


Being thankful and counting the blessings God has given us helps to soothe my impatient heart through this farmhouse restoration.


In these squares I share just a small part of our crazy life on Bryarton Farm.


Honestly raising a family in a half gutted home creates an "interesting" lifestyle.


As an artist I tend see life through a painter's eyes, so my pictures may look beautiful, however I am often brought into reality when a friend or family member stops for a visit and I see the look of shock or disgust on their faces.


This makes it easy for me to slip into a spirit of discouragement.


I have to remind myself why we came here to the Kansas prairie, so I will share with you the list my husband and I wrote the day we conceived Bryarton Farm.



Our top 10 goals were:

1.Pay cash for a forgotten fixer-upper farm, working towards financial freedom.

2. Move closer to my family.

3. Restore an 1800’s farm to help preserve our nation's heritage DIY style.

4. Have a large art studio in a vintage barn.

5. Live in a rural setting with pastoral views (no neighbors in sight) a place of artistic inspiration.

6. Simplify our life and commitments.

7. Spend more time together as a family and be a stay-at-home Mom.

8. Have farm animals and raise our kids in an old fashioned country way. Homeschool.
9. Have a blog & shop to share our journey and passions with others.

10. Foster & Adopt to hopefully reach a forgotten child with our loving family.

When I see how many of these goals we have already met in just 3 years I am amazed!
